Your storage controls

These controls affect this browser only. They do not delete projects, exported files or Gumroad purchase records.

Forgetting a saved key does not deactivate the current signed session. To end that session, use Deactivate this device in the app. Disabling offline copies does not uninstall a home-screen shortcut. Close other BidVariance tabs and reload after disabling to stop a worker that was already running.

What is stored and why?

License session — bv_ent

A Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax cookie holds a signed license identifier, tier and verification times. It is needed for licensed access and lasts up to 30 days, or until successful deactivation. It is not an advertising identifier.

Local projects — IndexedDB bidvariance

The projects store holds your saved inputs. It persists until deleted in the app, cleared by you, or removed by the browser. It supports the local workspace you use; it is not sent to the license server.

App preferences — bv.prefs.v1 and bv.lastOpenedId

Local storage remembers decision thresholds and task-editor settings and the last project selected. It lasts until reset or cleared. Resetting app preferences does not remove the project database or last-project selection.

Optional saved key — bv.keepKey.v1

Created only when you choose “Keep this device activated.” It contains your raw license key and renewal information on this device, with no automatic expiry. Remove it above or deactivate successfully. Do not enable it on a shared or untrusted device.

Optional offline tools — service worker and bv-public-* caches

Public calculator pages and their assets can be stored for offline use. New setup requires choosing Enable offline calculators. Older versions prepared these copies automatically; existing copies can be disabled above. The cache does not store licensed app pages, API responses or local project data. Your browser may evict it to reclaim storage.

Storage choices — bv.offline.v1 and bv.notice.v1

Local storage remembers your offline choice and whether you dismissed the storage notice. These choices persist until site storage is cleared. Dismissing the notice does not enable optional features.

Calculator baselines

Kept in memory in the current tab only. Reloading or closing the page clears them. Downloaded briefs are files you choose to keep outside website storage.

Infrastructure and external sites

Cloudflare provides delivery and security and may use security cookies when its protections require them. These are separate from BidVariance's license cookie and depend on the protections applied to a request. See Cloudflare's cookie documentation.

BidVariance does not integrate advertising cookies or social-media tracking SDKs. Cloudflare may add a performance beacon to delivered pages; its Web Analytics service is described as cookieless. Site security policy restricts external scripts. Infrastructure request logging is separate from cookies and is described in the privacy notice. These controls do not change settings on Cloudflare, Gumroad or linked social websites.

Gumroad may set its own cookies when you visit checkout. GitHub, LinkedIn and the developer's personal website also have their own practices. Sharing links do not load their tracking SDKs into this site.

Removing all data

Your browser can block cookies or clear all storage for bidvariance.com. Blocking the session cookie prevents licensed access. Clearing all site data can permanently delete local projects and preferences, so export project JSON backups first. Read backup and recovery guidance before doing so.
